Frequently Asked Questions

It’s common to have questions, I have answers.

Here are some of the most common questions that Kaylyn Ivy Photography gets asked.  Please feel free to e-mail me at Kaylynivyphotography@gmail.com if you have any further questions, or to get the booking process started!

We had our session or wedding today, how will we receive our photos?

For portrait sessions, you will receive your photos from a protected gallery, where you can download your images. For weddings, you will receive a gallery as well, but you will also receive a USB drive with your images, in the mail, at the address provided on your contract.

So, we won't be getting prints then?

You will be in posession of the digital files, and will be able to print your photos at your own labs or stores. Many times, people will find that taking photos to a 1-hour print location will not turn the same quality as getting photos professionally printed, and Kaylyn Ivy Photography offers print pricing, as an add on, as well as albums or canvases for sessions and weddings.  For more information, please contact Kaylynivyphotography@gmail.com.

How long will it take to receive our files?

Typically, those who book portrait sessions receive their digital files within 4-6 weeks.  Couples who book their wedding with Kaylyn Ivy Photography, typically receive their images within 8-10 weeks.  Receiving the USB with their images will take another week to be shipped.

Can we just sign our contract without reading it?

NO.  Your contract is there to protect the rights of both parties.  It is very important to understand everything in the contract, and I am happy to go over it with you.

Will we receive the images raw, or will you edit them?

You will receive fully edited images, nothing raw.  The photos you are receiving are an accurate representation of my work, and a large amount of time goes into post production.

How long will a portrait session run?

A family session, senior session, or boudoir session can run from about an hour, to two hours, so please plan accordingly.  Some of that time will be spent moving from one location to another, to posing, and fixing garments or makeup.  A newborn session can take up to 5 hours, with feedings, reposing, and trying to get the baby comfortable and warm.

I see for weddings you offer 6 hours of coverage as your minimum package.  Is that enough time?

The 6 hours of coverage package is there for brides who are on a stricter budget, but still want Kaylyn Ivy Photography to shoot their wedding. Because of the limited coverage, things will be missed, and depending on your timeline, it could be photos of the preparation for the day, or important parts of the reception.  For most brides, Kaylyn Ivy Photography recommends AT LEAST 8 hours of coverage, to make sure that nothing important is missed.

Do I need a second shooter for my wedding day?

Yes.  There are a number of reasons why a second shooter is necessary, but it is most important to make sure that everything is covered.  Often times, I will stick with the bride, while my second shooter covers groom preparation.

Will we receive ALL of the photos taken?

No, the images you will receive will completely cover the day, however, outtakes will be tossed, as well as duplicates.  My goal is to beautifully represent your wedding day, not overwhelm you with 10 of the same photo or images where everyone is blinking.

Do you have the same second shooter for all of your weddings?

Not always, but it will be someone I have worked with before, whose work I strongly trust.  Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life, and I would not risk putting your day in the hands of someone I do not know.

Will we receive files directly from them as well?

No, all files will be delivered from Kaylyn Ivy Photography, as each photographer has their own processing style, look and feel.

Will our files be watermarked?

No, when you receive your digital files they will be unwatermarked.  But it is always nice to give us a shout out if you post them on social media!

What is the difference between copyright and print release?

This is a very confusing subject for most people, and I am happy to help.  People who book sessions and receive digital files, are also in possession of a print release.  They are able to download the files they receive and get photos printed wherever they wish.  Copyright means that the photo won't go through some instagram filters before getting posted, it means that the creative work that has gone on in post-production, will stay the same, and unaltered.  It also means that the photo won't be used for commercial use without the permission of Kaylyn Ivy Photography.  For more questions on this, please e-mail  Kaylynivyphotography@gmail.com

Where can I sign up?

You can start by sending me an e-mail at KaylynIvyphotography@gmail.com with the date and  intention of your shoot (wedding, family, portrait).  I strive to return e-mails within 24 hours, and look forward to hearing from you soon!
